The Brute Vs. The Vision

I finally caught up with Saylo. He seemed to have been waiting for me.

"Hello, Gordon," he said as I approached him. "I think it's time that we end this."
"That's what I was hoping for," I said to him. "But first, why don't you tell me who the hell you are."
"Very well," he said. "I was just a normal guy, like you. But one day, a man came up to me. He called himself a Scion, and he asked for my assistance. He called upon the lost deity, and sealed her power inside of me. In exchange, I must help to guide destiny... by destroying you."
"And what will that accomplish?" I asked.
"I must stop you before you resurrect the Brute," he said. "So, let us begin this game."
"Fine," I said.

"I'll go first," he said. "I'll start by normal summoning Scion Spell-Shaper in attack mode."
This monster looked light a fucking cultist. I'm think I understand what these Scion guys are all about. Black, hooded robes, weird staff. Light attribute, level 3, 400 attack and 1000 defense.
"When Spell-Shaper is normal summoned, I can special summon a level 4 or lower Light spellcaster from my hand," he explained. "Now I'll use that effect to special summon Neo The Magic Swordsman Next, I'll tune my level 3 Spell-Shaper with my level 4 Swordsman to synchro summon the level 7 Scion Sword Master!"
This was another cultist, but his hood was down, revealing long, messy brown hair, and he had a big sword. He had 2300 attack and 1600 defense.
"When Sword Master is synchro summoned, I can inflict 700 damage to my opponents life points," he announced. The Cultist rushes at me and slashed with it's sword. "Now I'll set one card face down and end my turn."

"Alright!" I said. "I'll start by activating Polymerization to fuse Meteor Dragon and Red Eyes Black Dragon from my hand to fusion summon Meteor Black Dragon!"
I was now in control of a giant, 3500 attack point powerhouse.
"Now, destroy his Sword Master!" I commanded.
"I'm afraid not!" Saylo said. "I activate the trap card Vision Shield! Thanks to its effect, Scion cards can't be destroyed in battle or by card effects this turn!"
"Yes, but you'll still take damage," I said.
"As will you!" Saylo said. "When I take damage from a battle involving Scion Sword Master, I can inflict the same amount of damage to you!"
So yeah, we both took 1200 points of damage from that battle.

"If that's all, then I'll be going now," he said. "I activate the spell card Scion Star. Now, by discarding a Starlight monster from my hand, I can summon a Scion monster from my deck with the same level. So by discarding my level 7 Starlight Warlock, I can call forth my Scion Rogue!"
This one was wearing a black cloak, and had a bandanna covering his mouth and spiky black hair. It had 2200 attack and 1000 defense.
"When Scion Rogue is special summoned, I can inflict 1000 damage to each player!" he said. "Next, I overlay these two level 7 monsters to xyz summon Scion Star Mage!"
This one had on a much fancier robe, and was carrying a staff. It had 2500 attack and defense.
"By using both of Star Mage's overlay units, I can destroy a monster you control and inflict damage to your life points equal to its attack!" he declared.
So that sucked. He had managed to drop my life points down to 1600, and he still had 5800.
"Star Mage can't attack the turn I use its effect, so I'll end my turn here," he said.

"Alright, my move!" I said, drawing my card. "I normal summon Axe Dragonute in attack position, and I'll equip him with Megamorph to double his attack."
I was down for a bit there, but that combo gave me an edge.
"Now, attack his monster!" I ordered. The dragon charged and destroyed that stupid Star Mage of his. "Now I set a card face down and end my turn."

"Very well," he said. "I activate the spell card Star Blast. At the cost of 1500 life points, I can reduce the level of a monster in my hand by 3 until the end of this turn! So this level 7 monster is now a level 4, allowing me to summon it to the field. Now come forth, The Ultimate Visionary, Malkator!"
This time he summoned a boy about my age, with brown hair and a giant vertical mouth on his chest. He had 2200 attack and 1900 defense.
"When Malkator is normal summoned, I can select one spell card my opponent controls and destroy it," he said.
Well, there went my Megamorph.
"Now, I'll have Malkator attack your dragon!" he proclaimed.
The mouth opened up, and countless black frog tongues shot out of it. They proceeded to tear my monster apart and pulling it into the mouth.
"It doesn't end there," he said. "You see, for each card Malkator consumes, he gains 300 attack points. Now, I'll go ahead and end my turn."

"I draw," I said. "Then I place a monster face down and end my turn."
Yeah, it was a short turn. Shut up.

"Now it's my turn," he said. "I set one card face down and attack with Malkator!"
Malkator devoured my face-down card and grew even stronger.
"I activate the flip effect of Cthulhu Dragon!" I said. "Now I move any Dragon type monster in my deck to the top, and I'll select Burning Shadow Dragon!"
"I end my turn," he said.

"Time to show you what I'm made of!" I yelled. "I Banish Dark attribute Red Eyes and Axe Dragonute, along with Fire attribute Meteor Dragon and Meteor Black Dragon in order to summon my Burning Shadow Dragon!"
The dragon rose before me, and at my signal, it attacked Malkator.
"I activate the trap card Waboku!" Saylo said. "Now, my monster can't be destroyed and I take no damage!"
"In that case, I'll end my turn," I said.

"Now it's time to unleash my Master's power," he declared. "I'll start by normal summoning another Scion Spell-Shaper, and I'll use his effect to special summon Frequency Magician from my hand."
"Two tuner monsters?" I asked.
"Yes," he said. "You see my ultimate card is a special synchro monster that requires two tuner monsters instead of one. No, I tune level 3 Scion Spell-Shaper and level 2 Frequency Magician to my level 7 Ultimate Visionary Malkator to synchro summon my master, the level 12 Vision, The Fear Of Destiny!"
His monster was a beautiful woman, with orange hair, giant wings, and talons growing from her fingers. She had 3300 attack and 3000 defense.
"Thanks to Vision's effect, I can draw one card for every level 8 or higher monster in play," he said. "With her and your dragon, that makes two. Now, I activate Starlight Seal! Since I control a Light spellcaster, I can banish a monster you control!"
"I'm afraid that's not happening," I said. "I activate the trap card Spell Shield Type-8! Since your spell card specifically designates my monster, I can negate its effect."
"Alright then," he said. "I'll equip the Vision with the spell card Visionary Veil!"
a gleaming cloak fell from the sky and draped itself around her shoulders.
"Now, the Vision will become unable to destroy monsters in battle, but any damage she inflicts is doubled," he said. "Also, Monsters she battles can't change their battle position. Now, attack!"
The attack hit and I took the damage from it. I was feeling it; the Brutes power was welling up inside of me.
"I end my turn," he said.

I began laughing. "I see what you're trying to do," I said. "I understand your strategy. You think you can stop me from summoning the Brute by stopping my Shadow Dragon from being sent to the graveyard. But you don't know what the Burning Shadow Dragon is truly capable of!"
"What do you mean!?" he demanded.
"You're about to see!" I said, drawing my card. The Brute had arrived. "I banish my Dark attribute Cthulhu Dragon from my graveyard to destroy one spell or trap card on the field! So with your Veil gone, The Vision can destroy monsters again. Now, attack!"
My dragon attacked. The Vision destroyed it. My life points were reduced to 200. No pain, no gain.
"Now, during the battle phase, I can banish a level 10 or higher dragon-type monster from my graveyard to special summon the Chaotic War Dragon Brute!" I declared. "And with six of my monsters banished, it gains 3000 attack points. Now, finish him!"

It was over. His Vision was powerful, but it was nothing compared to the Brute. I walked away from that battle, leaving his charred corpse behind me.

The Red Joker

Hey, I haven't posted in a bit, but I'm still going. I've beaten some more chumps.

Earlier, this woman in a bask approached me. The mask was black with a backwards red question mark on it.

"You've gone a while without posting, Gordon," she said.
"Who are you?" I demanded.
"I'm the Red Joker," she said. "And I was simply curious as to why you haven't been keeping your blog up to date."
"Guess I just haven't had anything interesting to post about," I said.
"Well, why don't I give you something interesting," she said, strapping a duel disk to her wrist.
"Heh, now you're speaking my language," I said. I hadn't dueled anyone since that Saylo guy with his stupid Starlight cards.

"I'm feeling generous, so you can take the first move," I said to her.
"Very well," she said, drawing. "I'll start by normal summoning Convocation Kestrel."
A bird appeared before her. It was level 3, with 1300 attack and 1000 defense.
"Now I end my turn," she announced.

"That all?" I asked, drawing my card. "In that case, I summon Willing Doll Of The Wooden Girl!"
A knife wielding man with 1600 attack and 2200 defense appeared. As an earth attribute monster, it doesn't really fit with my deck's theme, but it does have a useful effect.
"I activate the effect of my Willing Doll," I said. "By sending the top two cards of my deck to the graveyard, I can have him gain 500 attack until the end phase."
The cards I sent to the graveyard were Flamvell Guard and Megamorph.
"Now, attack!" I shouted. The Willing Doll charged at the bird, but it didn't die. She took the damage from the attack, but the bird was still there.
"You don't seem to understand my card's power," she said. "You see, each Convocation card is a Fear, meaning they can only be destroyed in battle with other Fears."
"In that case, I'll set a card face down and end my turn," I said.

"My move, then," she said. "I'll summon Convocation Sparrow!"
This bird was a smaller one, level 3 with only 800 attack and defense.
"Sparrow's effect lets me special summon a Convocation card in my hand," she said. "So my Convocation Pigeon will be joining these two!"
Another bird appeared, another level 3 with 1400 attack and 1300 defense.
"Since I control three level 3 monsters, I can use all three of them to xyz summon The Crow!" she said.
This time, it was a human she summoned. He had jet black hair, wore a glove on his left hand, and was carrying a whip. He had 2200 attack and 1600 defense.
"By using an overlay unit, I can reduce your monsters attack power by half," she said. The Crow charged his whip with lightning and shocked my monster, weakening it. Then he attacked.
"I activate the trap card Magic Cylinder!" I said. The attack was negated and she took damage equal to the monsters attack.
"I end my turn," she said, disappointed.

"Now I'll go," I said. "I summon Armageddon Knight! And with his effect, I can send a dark monster from my deck to the graveyard! So I'll use that effect to get rid of my Red Eye Black Chick. Next, I use these two level 4 monsters to xyz summon Crimson Knight Of The Brute!"
The Crimson Knight appeared, with 2400 attack and 1000 defense. With it's power, that Crow guy wouldn't last long.
"By using one of his overlay units, I can have him gain 700 attack until the end phase, but I can only use that effect once per turn," I said. "So now his power is at 3100. Now, crush that worthless Crow!"
The Knight attacked and her Crow was destroyed. She was down to 4100 life points.
"I set a card and end my turn," I said.

"I draw," she said. "Next, I summon Convocation Hawk!"
This monster was level 4 with 1700 attack and 500 defense.
"I'll use Hawk's effect now!" she said. "Now I can special summon a Convocation card in my graveyard, so I'll select Convocation Kestrel. And when Kestrel is special summoned, I can increase it's level by one!"
"Two level 4 monsters?" I asked.
"That's right," she said. "And I'll overlay the two of them to bring out the Faceless Bastard!"
This new monster was a man in a mask holding a machete. He had 2500 attack and 1300 defense.
"Now, attack!" she ordered.
"I use the trap card Dark Armor Of The Underworld!" I said. "By discarding a card and reducing my monsters attack by 500 until the end phase, I can prevent it from being destroyed in battle this turn!"
The attack hit and I took damage, but my monster was fine. The card I discarded was Meteor Dragon.
"Don't think it's over yet," she said. "By removing one of Faceless Bastard's overlay units, he can attack again."
She struck my knight two more times and ended her turn.

"Now that it's my turn again, my knight regains his power," I said. "Now, I'll use an overlay unit to boost his power some more, and attack!"
Now her Faceless Bastard was finished, so I ended my turn.

"I think it's time I got serious," she said. "I normal summon Convocation Hummingbird."
This time it was a level 1 monster with 300 attack and 400 defense.
"By using Sparrow's effect, I can special summon one level 3 or lower Convocation monster in my hand, so I'll bring forth my level 3 Convocation Raven!"
this new monster had 1700 attack and 0 defense.
"When Raven is special summoned, I can bring out a second Raven from my deck," she said. "By the way, Hummingbird is a tuner monster."
My first thought when she said that was CRAP!!! With a tuner monster and one or more non-tuner monsters, she could perform a synchro summon of a monster whose level was equal to the total level of the synchro materials.
"Now, I tune my level 1 Hummingbird to my two level 3 Ravens to synchro summon my level 7 Convocation Phoenix!" she declared.
This one was a huge, flaming bird with 2600 attack and 2100 defense, and it looked angry.
"Next, I activate the effect of Convocation Owl in my hand," she said. "By discarding it, I can double my Phoenix's attack this turn. Now, destroy that worthless Knight!"
So yeah, I took 2800 damage and my knight got destroyed. That was very painful. The damage is still toatlly real.
"I think I'll let you off easy and end my turn," she said.

I drew, and grinned broadly. It was finally here.
"I banish the fire attribute Crimson Knight and Meteor Dragon, along with the dark attribute Armageddon Knight and Red Eyes Chick, to call forth my ace monster!" I declared. "Come on out, Burning Shadow Dragon!"
The dragon raged before me, staring down at her pathetic Phoenix.
"Now, I banish Flamvell Guard to boost his attack by 1000," I said. "Now, attack!"
The attack hit, and she took damage, but of course the monster survived.
"You can only defeat my Phoenix with another Fear," she reminded me.
"I activate the quickplay spell Darkfire Inferno!" I said. "Since a level 7 or higher dragon type monster attacked this turn, I can select on monster in play and destroy it! So you can kiss your Phoenix goodbye!"
The blast of black flames consumed her phoenix and destroyed it.
"Now I end my turn," I said.
"You underestimate my monsters power," she said. "During the end phase, if Phoenix is destroyed by an effect, I can special summon it back to the field!"
The Phoenix returned, but I wasn't worried. It was still no match for my Dragon. Or so I thought.

"I draw!" she announced. "Next, I activate Card Destruction, so now we both discard our hands and draw the same number of cards."
We both did so.
"Now, I use the spell card Eclipse Of Fear," she said. "Now, I can banish any level 7 or higher Fear cards in either players graveyard to have a Fear monster I control gain 1000 attack for each of them. Now, I banish the Convocation Eagle I just discarded to power up my Phoenix. Now, destroy his dragon!"
"I activate the effect of the Crawling Chaos Dragon in my hand!" I declared. "By discarding it, I can have my monster survive this an attack!"
"I'm afraid that won't matter," she said. You see, when Eagle is banished from the graveyard, I can select one Convocation card I control and have it attack an extra time this turn. So you can survive the first attack, but the second one is sure to destroy it!"

And it did. My dragon was gone. I was outraged. Fury flowed through me.
Are you going to take that!? a voice in my head asked. Are you going to allow this woman to get away with destroying the card that has brought you so far!?
No, I thought. I will not tolerate it!

My vision started going red as I drew my next card. I didn't need to look at the card I had drawn. I already knew what it was, for my hatred was guiding me.
"You've severely underestimated me, woman," I said. My voice had grown deeper, and more hostile. I loved it. "Burning Shadow Dragon was just the beginning. Now, by banishing it from my graveyard, I can special summon The Chaotic War Dragon, Brute!"
The new dragon towered over the both of us. It was humongous, with massive wings, and smoke surrounding it. It was the most amazing thing in the world. And, to top it off, it was a Fear. It was level 12, with 3500 attack points and 3000 defense.
"During my battle phase, I can have the Brute gain 500 attack points for each of my banished monsters!" I said. "Which brings it up to 6500! Now, end this!"
The Brute blasted the Phoenix with smoke, annihilating it and reducing her life points to 0.

"Good job," she said, approaching me. I was honestly disappointed that she wasn't hurt. "Here is your prize."

She gave me the Convocation Phoenix and vanished.

I now have three Fears under my control. And the Brute... so strong. I've never seen a card like this before. I'm unbeatable! Come at me Saylo! There's no way you can stop me now!

The Brute

I can summon level 4 monsters outside of duels now, but that's about the best I can do right now. I'm guessing I have to wait even longer before I can summon my stronger cards.

I found a card on the ground earlier. It was called Willing Doll Of The Wooden Girl. When I went to pick it up, a guy came out of no where with a gun and started talking to me. He turned out to be the same guy who took out the Crimson Knight. According to him, the Burning Shadow Dragon has piece of one of the Fears sealed inside of it. Something called the Brute. He said I could keep the card and started walking away. I summoned my Armageddon Knight to take care of him, but he shot it. I gave up and decided to keep looking for the duelist.

I found him.

"Saylo, right?" I asked.
"Yes," he replied. "You've been looking for me, correct?"
"I want a rematch," I said.
"Not now," he replied.
"Why not!?" I demanded.
"It is not the time," he said. "The destined moment has not arrived yet."
"The hell are you talking about?" I said.

And then he vanished. I need to find him again. I need to get that rematch.

Knights

I had just finished charring another one of the useless competitors. Then this guy in armor walks up to me and asks to see the Shadow Dragon. I don't know how he new about that card, but I agreed to let him see it . He asked me if he could have it. I said no. He was angry at first, but he walked away without a fight. I found his empty armor later on, a few yards away from where I met him. I found a card next to his armor. I was called the Crimson Knight Of The Brute. I'm keeping it. It could be useful.

I saw that annoying duelist from earlier. I'm gonna try following him. I want a rematch. And this time, I'll show him who's boss.

Summoning

I killed a large group of people earlier. I don't know how many. I summoned my Magna Drago, and laughed as it crushed their bodies with its jaws and burned their flesh from their bones. That's a few more down, and countless more to go.

I can still summon my monsters, but it seems my stronger ones have had their power sealed away. I'm limited to my low level monsters right now. However, this is a beatdown/burn deck, so I don't have a lot of weak monsters. I've got Flamvell Guard, Magna Drago, Red Eyes Black Chick, and a couple cards I received from the Black Joker. Oh well. I can work with what I have.

There's Another Duelist Here

I saw him strolling by a building shaped like a knight chess piece. As soon as he saw me, he ran inside. I figured he was afraid of me, and decided to chase him inside. I chased him through the building and up to the top. I lost track of him. I exited through a door and found myself on the horses nose. I stepped close to the edge to try to get a good view of this strange world. Then I heard the door slam. I turned around and saw the man standing there. This was a trap.

"Nice to finally meet you," he said. "Your name is Gordon, correct?"
"Yes," I said. "How did you know that?"
"I know a lot of things," he said. I don't know, but I was really bothered by the fact he was wearing shades. I couldn't see his eyes at all. He then pulled his duel disk out of his bag and strapped it to his wrist. I did the same. I knew where this was going.

"I'll begin!" he announced. "I summon Starlight Magister in attack mode."
This really cute girl with a star themed magical girl outfit appeared. She was level 4, with 1400 attack and 1000 defense.
"I'll now activate her effect," he announced. "I can now special summon a level 4 or lower Light spellcaster-type monster from my hand. Now I summon Neo The Magic Swordsman. And by overlaying these two Light monsters, I xyz summon Starlight fighter."
This girl was pretty badass looking, with 2200 attack points and 1500 defense.
"By using an overlay unit and discarding a card,  can raise my life points by 1000 and deal you 1000 points of damage," he said. I was suddenly hit with a blast of light and was almost knock over. The damage was real, and I was standing at the edge of a giant horses nose. Not good.
"I end my turn," he said.

"Okay!" I said, drawing. I had the Burning Shadow Dragon. Perfect. I just needed to get the right cards into my graveyard. "I'll start with Darkfire Blast! By sending a Dark and a Fire monster from my deck to the graveyard, I can deal you 1000 damage!"
"I activate the effect of the Damage Eater in my graveyard," he said. "By banishing it, I can negate the damage and increase my life points by the same amount."
Great. He was at 10000 and I was at 7000. But I wasn't about to give up yet.
"I activate Star Blast," I said. I select one monster in my hand or on my field, and reduce its level by one for each 500 life points I pay! So I'll pay 2000 to make Plague Doctor level 4, so now I can normal summon him!"
The Doctor appeared. With a Fear on my side, there was no way this guy was gonna take me down. At least, that was my thought.
"I use Plaguey's effect to add a Plague Counter to your monster, weakening it by 300 points," I said. "As an added bonus, Plague Doctor gains 100 attack points for every Plague Counter in play. Now, attack!!"
The attack hit and he took 400 damage.
"I end my turn," I said.

"Very well," he said, drawing. "I'll start by special summoning Starlight Archer."
A beautiful woman with a bow and arrows appeared. She was level 4, with 1800 attack and 300 defense.
"She can be special summoned when my life points are 2000 or more greater than yours are," He explained. "Also, if I control a Light spellcaster-type monster, I can normal summon Starlight Warlock to the field."
This next monster was wearing much darker clothing than the others, and was carrying a staff. It was level 7 with 2000 attack and 1000 defense.
"Next, I activate Starlight Change," he said, throwing a spell card down. "By reducing one Light monster's power to zero, I can add it to a different Light monster. So I'll add Archer's power to my Warlock. Now, attack the Plague Doctor!"
The shock wave from the attack almost sent me flying over the edge, but the Plague Doctor grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me back up. After catching my breath, I looked back up at my opponent.
"Joke's on you, pal," I said, gleefully. "The good Doctor can only be destroyed in battle by other Fears!"
"That's exactly what I was hoping for," he said, smiling. "I activate the effect of my Warlock. Since your monster survived that assault, I can discard a card to destroy it with her effect."
And like that, my monster was gone.
"Now, I use Archer's effect," he continued. "Since your monster was destroyed by an effect, I can deal you damage equal to it's level multiplied by 200, adding up to 1600 damage."

She fired her arrow, and this time, I really did fall over the edge. My fall was broken by a masked woman. As soon as I got up, I pinned her to the wall.
"You can't kill me!" she said. "Card's are off limits! I'm forbidden fruit!"
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"I work for the Game Master!" she said. "You're not allowed to hurt me, Gordon."
"How do you know my name?" I demanded.
She tapped the edge of her mask. It was solid white, with a diamond and a really elaborate looking K.
"This thing let's me know everything about all of the competitors," she said.
"If that's the case, who was that guy who just beat me?" I demanded.
"His name is Saylo Xdranyl," she said. "I can't tell you any more than that."
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I am the  King of Diamonds," she said.
"But you're a girl," I pointed out. I was promptly bitch slapped. Then she disappeared.

I could find that Saylo guy afterwards. I'm not completely sure why I know how to spell his name, I just do. Maybe it's for the same reason I can remember all of my duels so vividly. I don't know. I'm gonna sign off now. Later.
